Where's the Love (shorts program)
The Third Body
DIR PEGGY AHWESH
EXPERIMENTAL VIDEO 9:00 MIN
The tropes of the garden, the originary moment of self knowledge and gendered awareness of the body (what is traditionally called sin) is mimicked in the early experiments with virtual reality. The metaphors used in our cutting edge future are restagings of our cultural memory of the garden. Wonderment regarding the self in space, boundaries of the body at the edge of consciousness and the inside and outside skin of perceptual knowledge. - P.A.

Light is Waiting
DIR MICHAEL ROBINSON
EXPERIMENTAL VIDEO 7:00 MIN
A very special episode of television's Full House devours itself from the inside out, excavating a hypnotic nightmare of a culture lost at sea. Tropes of video art and family entertainment face off in a luminous orgy from which neither will survive. - M.R.

i.Mirror
DIR CAO FEI
DOCUMENTARY VIDEO 28:00 MIN
i.Mirror is a documentary in three acts recorded through China Tracy, the Second Life avatar of artist Cao Fei. The video opens with a poetic overture to the world of Second Life, followed by a waltzing, in-game romance between the artist and a man not exactly who he seems. i.Mirrors conclusion is a montaged roll call of Second Lifes citizens, each peering into the cameraChina Tracyas they might the reflection of their own eyes. As the sequence crescendos, the mood of yearning held throughout the video shifts to triumph and the auras of real people peek through their digital fantasies. Every (Text, Image, Sound, Movie) on My Cell Phone
DIR DARRIN MARTIN
EXPERIMENTAL VIDEO 7:40 MIN
A collection of material shot, sent, and received expunged from a cell phone becomes a reflection on the everyday as it is experienced through the lens of this seemingly indispensable technology. - D.M.

Night Tide (for Sailors, Mermaids, Mystics)
DIR DREW HEITZLER
EXPERIMENTAL VIDEO 17:09 MIN
Night Tide (for Sailors, Mermaids, Mystics) is a re-edit of the 1963 Curtis Harrington film Night Tide starring Dennis Hopper and Linda Lawson. Aping the early Soviet cine-club practice of re-editing western newsreels in order to create new narrative films or Soviet propaganda, this new film uses Venice Beacha lost mecca of amusement ruined by a depression-era oil rush and subsequent bustas a backdrop for a surreal dream- scape of Pynchonesque paranoia, interconnection, and comedic horror, through which a navy-uniformed Dennis Hopper wanders in pursuit of both Eros and Thanatos in weird, old L.A. - D.H.
