CLASSICS ROCK starring Linda Gentille with The Jersey Shore Pops
AUGUST 4, 2013: "CLASSICS ROCK" starring conductor & pianist Linda Gentille" with special guest vocalists. This is a brand new show that Linda performs on cruises around the world with all her own arrangements of the most popular classics of all time!
Growing up in Pacific Palisades, California, Linda began her musical studies taking classes with her Father at Roger Williams' studio in Los Angeles. Her immediate grasp of complex and advanced music, her inherent technique, and her incredible ability to quickly and accurately memorize lengthy musical scores, soon endeared Linda to even her most senior instructors. After advancing quickly through the Roger Williams program, Linda then studied under Julliard trained Richard Kohfeld of Santa Monica and won numerous piano awards and accolades as a young pianist.
It was not long before Linda, still a teenager, auditioned for the Liberace show in Las Vegas and was immediately selected to tour with him in 1986. Mr. Showmanship was so taken with Linda's natural talent and incredible entertaining capability; he subsequently invited her to perform at his last record breaking Radio City Music Hall engagement in New York City. This event marked Linda's 'coming out' as a truly phenomenal entertainer and pianist. In fact, Liberace referred to Linda as the 'Piano Princess', a nick name that Linda's legends of fans still know her by today. Liberace also said of Linda, "She plays as beautifully as she looks." Today, Linda's world renowned entertaining style is clearly reminiscent of her mentor and friend.
Linda's unique and incredibly entertaining concert performances continuously have her audiences demanding return engagements year after year. During her concert career, Linda has performed over 1000 concerts worldwide. One of the many highlights of her career was a performance at The White House Correspondents' Dinner during President Ronald Reagan's administration.
Today, one of the most popular and memorable parts of Linda's concerts is her 'Top Ten Medley' segment. This portion of Linda's show inevitably leaves her audience in total awe as she takes her audience's requests, and then, from memory, plays the requests in a seamlessly medley in the reverse order she received them. Another highlight of Linda's concerts is her incredible ability to skillfully weave classical, and her own flamenco style into her memorized repertoire of over 2000 popular songs and hymns.
