The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, an original story ballet
Come and see this one-of-a-kind production! California Arts Academy is presenting an original full-length Story Ballet of L. Frank Baum's delightful tale, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Directed by Julie Ann Keller, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz is the fanciful story of Dorothy Gale, a young girl who is swept away from her home in Kansas and led into the magical land of Oz. It follows her adventures and challenges as she encounters frightful characters, makes meaningful friendships, and learns a number of valuable life lessons that she will treasure forever. The story comes to life through classical and contemporary dance.
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz is a unique dance-theater spectacle that features over 200 local dancers and guest artists with choreography from the talented instructors at the school including Daniel Chavez Jr., Yuliya Gamboni, Margaret Hord, Julie Ann Keller, Jasmin Kloos, Joe Orta, Carla Stallings-Lippert, Cristal Tiscareno, and others.
While the production is 100 percent danced, with no dialogue, it is not 100 percent ballet. Dance styles will include jazz, contemporary, gymnastics, tap, and Irish Step dance.
