Tom Swearingen & Notable Exceptions; An Evening of Cowboy Poetry & Western Music
Tom Swearingen
http://oregoncowboypoet.com/

Tom Swearingen is an Oregon horseman who tells stories of the people and land of the American West through original cowboy poetry that is often inspired by his own experiences and observations from the saddle.  Tom brings his stories to life with rhythm and rhyme and a style that makes him a popular performer not only at cowboy gatherings and horse camps, but also in singer-songwriter circles and wherever else you find folks who appreciate well-crafted verse.  A two-time winner of the National Finals Rodeo Cowboy Poetry Contest and three-time Western Music Association Top-5 Male Cowboy Poet of the Year, Toms poems have been published by the Center for Western and Cowboy Poetry, and recognized by such organizations as the National Cowgirl Hall of Fame.  His two CDs have each been recognized as finalists for WMA Cowboy Poetry CD of the Year.

The verse of Tom Swearingen is characteristically brief, always to the point, effective and (most often) optimistic. Whether he is operating in the realm of novelty or he is leaning more toward the thought-provoking Swearingen spins a fine tale and his expert delivery is comfortably conversational in its cadence. Tom Swearingen is most certainly one of the poets folks might want to point out when they are trying to explain or typify the genre of cowboy poetry. His style and body of work make him one of the most approachable cowbards workin. Recommended.

From Rick Huffs review of Toms 2016 Rhyme Em Cowboy! CD in Western Way, the magazine of the Western Music Association.

Notable Exceptions
notableexceptions.com

Notable Exceptions is a tidy bundle of energy, talent, experience, and musical joy.  Their sound is a potpourri of folk, western, and novelty tunes.  From house concerts to concert halls, Judy Coder and Jennifer Epps are known in the world of western music for their finely crafted vocal harmony.  Their original tunes are lighthearted and conversational.  For accompaniment, Judy's tasteful rhythm guitar is right on the button; Jennifer sweetens the sound with tidbits of harmonica, rhythm instruments, flutes and whistles.  The result is fun, fresh, bold Americana.  This delightful pair is the Western Music Associations 2015 Harmony Duo of the Year.   Look for recordings and tour dates on their website, NotableExceptions.com.
