RANDALL BRAMBLETT with NICK JOHNSON-acoustic show
ACOUSTIC SHOW - WITH SPECIAL GUEST NICK JOHNSON ON GUITAR. Deep into his self-described second act of his solo career, Bramblett aims to recreate the literature of the blues with music about nowhere people in nowhere lands. Conjuring equal parts Tom Waits, William Burroughs, and hallelujah chorus, his music again comes alive with this new collection of songs. With a commitment to the story of his characters and the necessary mutation of music, Bramblett has kept his solo career as fresh as the day it began.
Nick Johnson (Lead guitar, vocals) Born in Boston, Massachusetts, Nick took an interest to music at a very early age. Inspired by his uncles record collection of the great rock bands of the 70s, he began playing the guitar constantly at age 11. Nick played in the high school jazz band and at local blues jams until he graduated high school in 2005. Upon completing high school, Nick moved to Atlanta to attend the Atlanta Institute of Music and to explore the music and culture of the South. After graduating at the top of his class, Nick went on to become an active member of the Atlanta music scene.
Nick and his band Genetic Drift (featuring Kevin Scott and Duane Trucks) performed at the 2008 Atlanta Jazz Festival. During this time, Nick began playing with the Yonrico Scott Band (featuring members of the Derek Trucks Band) and will be featured on their upcoming record release. Nick also toured as a member of Last Waltz Ensemble and can be heard alongside George Porter Jr. of the Meters on the Last Waltz Ensembles New Orleans Jokerman. Starting in 2010, Nick toured under the tutelage of Southern music great, Col Bruce Hampton. While in Hamptons band, Nick played a part in Billy Bob Thorntons upcoming film release, Jayne Mansfields Car, and performed at Les Pauls Iridium Jazz Club in New York City. Some other musicians Nick has had the pleasure of performing with include, Derek Trucks and Warren Haynes, Jimmy Herring, Oteil and Kofi Burbridge, Jeff Sipe, Grant Green Jr, Ike Stubblefield, and Chuck Leavell.
