The Bunker with Tin Man, Fred P, Professor Genius, Madteo
Tonight we bid adieu to Eric Cloutier, who will be playing his final DJ set in New York before moving to Berlin later this month. It's fitting that he appears on such a deep back room lineup alongside Fred P and Tin Man. Eric has come a long way since his first guest DJ set at The Bunker at subTonic way back in 2006. He moved to NYC later that year and started helping us with set up and tear down every week, and made occasional guest appearances behind the decks. In 2009 we became a two room monthly party and Eric became a full blown resident DJ at The Bunker. Eric has become a go-to guy for advice on a lot of what happens behind the scenes at Beyond Booking and The Bunker and has played more excellent DJ sets for us than we can count. He is a beloved member of our family and he will be sorely missed around here.

Now Austria-based, Tin Man was born in Los Angeles to Finnish parents and now holds citizenship to both Finland and the USA. He has been making a reputation for himself over the last five years, first via a series of classic house influenced 909 driven releases for Keys of Life, a sub label of famous Finnish imprint Sähkö recordings. His work started to take a darker more cold wave influenced shape in 2008 with his mini album "Wasteland" for Global A Records, then last year he moved from LA to Europe and released the album "Scared" on Philadelphia based indie avant-garde noise punk label White Denim. "Scared" reached to an even darker zone, drenched in despair, brining his voice more to the fore whilst keeping and expanding on his techno, house and cold wave influences in his own unique way. In 2012, Tin Man released "Neo Neo Acid" on the Acid Test label. This was a return to the dubbed out acid of his earlier releases, and one of our favorite releases of the year. We presented Tin Man's NYC debut at Unsound Festival New York in 2011. While that set was a stage show more focused on his techno-crooner material, tonight will be a full on acid set aimed striaght for the heady dancefloor of The Bunker.

DJ, Artist, and Remixer extraordinaire Fred P is the mind behind Black Jazz Consortium and the owner of Soul People Music. Recording for a wide range of labels, most notably DJ Jus-Ed's Underground Quality, Fred P has gained a following of true deep house lovers all over the world. Fred is a mysterious man of few words, choosing to let the deep personal vibe of his music speak for him. With such a prolific output of amazing music, it's clear that Fred has a lot to tell us, and you'll be hearing a lot more in years to come. Fred's previous sets at The Bunker have included some of the deepest, most insane aquatic house music we've ever heard, alongside more straightforward dancefloor material. We're very excited to see where he takes us with his extended set tonight.

Oscillate Wildly is an event committed to showcasing forward thinking House, Techno and Bass. They currently hold a roughly bi-monthly residency at The Rhythm Factory and Corsica Studios, London. They kindly invited The Bunker to host a room with resident DJs Bryan Kasenic and Derek Plaslaiko alongside special guest Andy Stott at one of their nights at Corsica Studios. They helped us choose the artists for the front room tonight and will be providing the soundtrack before and after our guests Professor Genius and Madteo.

While Jorge Velez (aka Professor Genius) has been releasing music under various guises for over a decade now, it wasn't really until the tail end of 2012 that he really started to reach a broader audience. His "Hassan" album for Ron Morelli's L.I.E.S. label was delayed for a long time due to pressing errors but has finally seen the light of day and it's well worth the wait. Scored as a soundtrack to an imaginary film about a cult of assassins in 13th century Persia, it was one of 2012's most engaging listens. Like most L.I.E.S. releases, it can be a bit tricky to track down, but well worth the effort. Also, some almost-forgotten demos that Jorge gave to Legowelt found their way to Rush Hour's desk, and they released them as quickly as they could on a double LP simply titled "MMT Tape Series 1996-1999". This will be Jorge's first live set for us since he played as Duermo over a decade ago at our Undercity weekly at Halcyon!

Like Professor Genius, Madteo is another local artist who has been working in the trenches for a long time who finally got a bit of the spotlight for some key releases in 2012. Amongst the many accolades he received last year, Little White Earbuds named him their #1 Artist Who Defined 2012. We think it says alot to just look at who released his music in 2012: legendary Finnish label Sähkö, Morphosis' Morphine imprint, Joy Orbison's brand new Hinge Finger project, Sotofett's Wania, and The Trilogy Tapes. Madteo is a wild personality and brings that to the table behind the decks, so we can't wait to see what he has in store for us tonight.
