MARILLA WEX: "THIS MUCH I KNOW" - LIVE AT THE FLYING BEAVER PUBARET!
MARILLA WEX - "This Much I Know" FRIDAY, JAN. 25th - 7pm
Marilla Wex returns to the Flying Beaver with an encore performance of her sold-out solo stand-up show "This Much I Know".
Here's what the last audience had to say about it:
"Marilla is completely relaxed and authentic on stage. And sh*t-stabbingly funny!" Inge Christensen
"I wexed my pants, dislocated my funny bone and left feeling more alive than ever" Shelley Marshall
"Marilla is a brilliant storyteller, funny, and shares pure synergy with her audience! Can't wait for her next solo tour." Raffaela Diana
"It was great! The best show I've seen in a long time! And I see a lot of shows." Arleigh Curran
"Impressive focus, no punches pulled, the energy expended could power Toronto for a week." Paul Persofsky
"Marilla has the stage presence of a great dame that is powerful enough to hold your attention even while she takes a moment to drink water." Veronika Swartz
"I went to Marilla's show expecting to laugh my ass off and be hugely entertained. As usual, Marilla's performance went above and beyond my expectations. A consummate performer, she reels you in and holds your attention . . . then leaves you wanting more! Simply cannot wait till the next show!!!" Roxx Tarantini
"Marilla is smart, sexy, pee your pants funny, and absolutely captivating on stage!" Darlene Chrissley
"Marilla Wex is an education. I laughed a lot AND I learned new words!" Melanie Persaud
"Watching Marilla Wex in her show "This Much I know" was such a blast! Full of raw honesty weaved into hilarious stories, she is a true entertainer in every sense of the word. I am looking forward to her encore performance!" Lisa Oki
"Marilla's quirky and irreverent reflections on life, womanhood, and her frequent view of the world as an outsider looking in are delivered with all the precision you'd expect from a classically trained actor, and the side-splitting hilarity of a brilliant comedian." Pelayo Matute
"Marilla Wex is a gifted comedian and actor, and a versatile performer. She skilfully weaves together diverse subject matter into her comedy. Funny material, funny delivery, and a great stage presence!" Lwam Ghebrehariat
"So many comics build their sets on everything they hate about their spouse. What a wonderful change to see a set about how much Marilla adores her husband and how much funnier!" Sage Tyrtle "Fantastic! She is loveable, foul-mouthed, and enchanting! I adore her!!" Marco Bernadi
"Marilla gave a power house performance that was salacious, provocative and inspiring. I didn't want it to end!" Irma Gagnon
Award-winning British actress and stand-up comedian Marilla Wex's passion for performing was ignited at the age of four when she starred as Mary in her junior kindergarten nativity play.
The dream didn't stop there she discovered booze and boys in the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain, realized academia wasn't for her but girls might be at the Bristol University Drama Department and got herself classically trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.
Having spent her first ten years as a professional actress shlepping around the British theatre scene, she finally ran away to Canada to be with her husband Michael and has carved out a surprisingly successful niche in Toronto as a voice artist with a genuine English accent.
Stand-up satisfies her need for the instant gratification of a live audience while simultaneously forcing her to get up off her idle backside and write. "This Much I Know" celebrates four glorious years on the Toronto stand-up scene. In that time Marilla has helped raise almost $20,000 for Gilda's Club Toronto as a founding member of the all-female comedy group the StandUp Sisters at their annual comedy benefit. She was a finalist and semi-finalist in the 2009 and 2010 Toronto Comedy Brawls respectively and won the Brantford Comedy Festival Rising Stars competition last year, opening for Tom Green and Seán Cullen at the gala event.
