Anatomy of a Slap
In a cathartic outpouring of self-expression, Renee has written a play about her mother. All seems fine on opening night...until her mother calls minutes before curtain.
The year-long development of Anatomy of a Slap started with asking various writers to contribute a scene that takes place in the backstage area of a theater and involved, in any capacity, a slap. Out of several dozen scenes, eight were chosen and weaved together through several drafts into one cohesive play. Ultimately the play came to be about the fragile membrane that exists between the world of reality and the world of perception that is represented here as the curtain.
