Sunday Socials @ Gore Place
Are you a Jane-ite? Or at least a fan of Jane Austen movies? Don't you just love those romantic dance scenes? How about trying it yourself! Come join us at the gloriously restored Carriage House of the Gore Estate in Waltham for two fun afternoons of Regency Dance. We can't guarantee you a Mr. Darcy, but one thing you'll notice about Regency Dance - it is incredibly social. These group dances were designed so that you meet and dance with everyone in the hall. Elegant and refined, great exercise for both brain and body, come and enjoy. No need to dress up, just wear comfortable shoes and clothes. Light refreshments will be served.
The dances will be taught by professional dancer, teacher and choreographer, Ruth Benson Levin. Ruth is teaming up with local historic houses and museums around the Boston area to provide authentic vintage dance experiences as part of their programming. Ruth developed a love for social dances from our past while teaching period movement at Boston University. Learning dances from different eras is a fun and memorable way to experience history, they transport you back in time. Ruth is a very experienced dance instructor, who is able to quickly teach the basics to get everyone dancing within minutes. See you on the dance floor! All levels welcome. 18 or older.
