Whisperings Solo Piano Radio Concert Series come to Knoxville, TN for 2013 with Michael Logozar, Joseph Akins and Philip Wesley. Enjoy an evening of contemporary piano music from these three talented artists as they perform their original compositions as heard on Whisperings.com.

ABOUT JOSEPH AKINS

Living in greater Nashville, Dr. Joseph Akins is an active pianist/composer and associate professor at Middle Tennessee State University. As a pianist/composer, he has released four solo albums. "A Piano Christmas" (2011) was nominated as Best Holiday Album of the Year at SoloPiano.com, and "Spirit Touch" (2009) was included in the Top 40 Solo Piano Albums of the Decade for 2000 2009 at MainlyPiano.com. As a professor at MTSU, Joseph teaches courses in MIDI, musicianship and new media. Before launching his solo piano career and starting at MTSU around 2000, he earned music degrees in jazz piano and electronic music from the University of Tennessee and Radford University. He also performed with many jazz, rock and country bands as a keyboard player. In 2006, he earned a doctorate from Tennessee State University.

Michael was born in Edmonton, Alberta Canada but now resides in Austin, TX. His debut contemporary instrumental piano CD, "Coming Into View," was released on November 1, 2008. Nearly 20 years after his ears first caught the notes of the emerging contemporary instrumental piano scene, Michael is arriving with his own brand of improvisational, deeply melodic music. His pre-released music can already be heard underscoring a number of films and television shows, and has garnered him nominations at the Los Angeles Music Awards and Unisong International Songwriting contests. His most recent release, "Time", has been nominated for Whisperings album of the year and has been entered in the Top 20 for 2012 at MainlyPiano.com.
