Spotted Pig Pizzeria
A girl and her pig have taken a trip to our Michael's Genuine kitchen in Grand Cayman... Now April Bloomfield is headed to HQ in Miami to pop with us before things go haywire the best of ways on South Beach. Kick off your weekend festival indulgence the right way with one of our most favorite chefs because of her dedication to her craft, English sass, sometimes potty mouth, and loveable sweetness. Expect lots of stuff from her beautiful new cookbook and more. Bubble and squeak your way to the Design District for the most genuine show on Earth.
After esteemed visiting guests Gabrielle Hamilton, Jonathan Waxman, Marc Vetri, Jonathon Sawyer, Kevin Sbraga, Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo, Paul Grieco, Chris Hastings, Hugh Acheson, Andrew Carmellini, Mindy Segal, and soon to be Paul Kahan, Michael welcomes April to take over Harry's Pizzeria on Wednesday, February 20 at 7:00 p.m.
April Bloomfield has spent most of her life in the kitchen and had the pleasure of working with some of the most revolutionary chefs before taking on a kitchen of her own. A native of Birmingham, England, April began her culinary studies at Birmingham College. From there, she went on to hone her craft through cook positions in various kitchens throughout London and Northern Ireland, including Kensington Place and Bibendum. It was under the guidance of Ruth Rogers and Rose Gray at The River Café where she learned to appreciate the beauty and simplicity of food.
Before moving to New York, April spent the summer of 2003 in Berkeley, California at the legendary Chez Panisse. In February 2004, April and restaurateur Ken Friedman opened New York City's first gastropub, The Spotted Pig. Under April's direction, The Spotted Pig has earned one star from the Michelin Guide for six consecutive years, and since 2010, April & Ken's The Breslin Bar & Dining Room also earned a star in the esteemed guidebook. A Food & Wine "Best New Chef," April continues to receive widespread attention for her food. In fall 2010, she and Ken opened The John Dory Oyster Bar, which joined The Breslin at New York's Ace Hotel and earned a glowing, two-star review from the New York Times. April's first cookbook, A Girl and Her Pig, was published by Ecco in April 2012.
Seating is first come, first served! Making new friends is encouraged and easy when you've got a welcome cocktail in hand with hors d'oeuvre, four courses served family-style, free-flowing wines by The Genuine Hospitality Group sommelier and Wine Director Eric Larkee and our tap beers including Michael's Genuine Home Brew at your disposal. Go home with a special gift too, a signed copy of A Girl & Her Pig! All that and tax and gratuity are included in the ticket price of $150.
To recap the drill... Harry's chef pop-up dinners occur about once a month, each time with a new chef in Harry's kitchen doing a special menu from their cookbook, their restaurant, or sometimes something different. We close to regular business for these intimate evenings. They are relaxed and convivial, with a family-style meal unfolding at communal tables. Seating is first come first served. Menu is subject to change and doors open at 7:00 p.m. sharp. Tickets are exclusively sold online for the pop-up series through www.harryspizzeria.com/fun!
