When pianist Cheryl Duvall and violinist Illana Waniuk attended the artistic winter residency at the Banff Centre in 2012, they had no idea that they were going to form an ensemble so unique that there was no music written for it. At the Banff Centre they met German accordionist Olivia Steimel and Montreal based flautist/composer Solomiya Moroz. With a mutual passion for contemporary chamber music they pooled their resources and began the collaborative project: Keys, Wind and Strings with the purpose of fostering the creation of new works for their ensemble of accordion, flute, violin and piano. This concert will include 20th/21st century works for unusual pairings within the group and will also feature two new works by Anna Pidgorna and Solomiya Moroz.
