Getsome Athletics Contact, Blocking and Containment Clinic
Getsome Athletics will be leading a 4 hour training clinic focused on skills you need to know to be a successful roller derby blocker. February 16, 2013 from 1 to 5 at "the Rat's Nest" in Ballard, WA.
This clinic will be led by Shorty Ounce and Carmen Getsome whose roller derby skills have earned them both several award for their blocking skills. Shorty and Carmen have been coaching roller derbytogether for the past few years, spreading the word of derby to every corner of the earth!
This clinic is for blockers of all skill levels, if you want to develop your hitting effectiveness and improve your containment skill in 2013 then this clinic is for you! You will learn many new drills to take home with you and practice on your own to continue your blocker growth!
The four hour clinic will be progressive training allowing you to develop your blocking skills and by the end of the clinic put them to use in scenarios.
The schedule for this clinic is:
1-2 Hitting technique and getting the most bang for your block 2-3 Jammer Soul Sucking....how to suck the life out of a jammer with just 2 or 3 teammates on the track 3-4 Mastering Containment 4-5 Knowing how and when to play offense while containing an opponent
This clinic is for skaters who have basic derby skills, you must be able to skate safely, as well as give and take a hit. It is also open to skaters age 16 and over. If you are hoping to register someone under 16 you must get approval from Getsome Athletics. For approval please email getsomeathletics@gmail.com and explain your age, derby experience and why you would like to take this class.

I separated my AC joint and tore a ligament at practice on Thursday... I won't be able to participate in this clinic but I already bought a ticket. Can I get a refund or if someone wants to buy my ticket can they go in my place? |

Brown Paper Tickets can refund you and then I can sell the ticket to someone on the waitlist. or you can sell it to a friend. |

I sent an e-mail asking for a refund because I injured my shoulder but I have not yet received the refund. I am pretty sure I will be able to participate in the clinic so if I can keep my spot I would like to know if I am still a ticket-holder... thanks! |
