Nov 18: the irresistible Cristian Perez quartet
We are especially proud and excited to host the Cristian Perez Quartet - you will love their intriguing and beautiful sounds. As usual, doors open at 6:30 for a full vegetarian feast (a gift from your host), and music starts at 7:30. The Casa is a private home: leave your shoes at the door but you may BYOB inside! Tickets are $25, limited, and likely to sell out in advance. 100% of sales goes to the artists.
Argentine born guitarist/composer Cristian Perez weaves together genres from throughout the world to reveal the universality of music in an all-star ensemble consisting of flutist Yana Nikol, violinist Aaron Malone, and bassist Daniel Brown. This project not only combines musicians of different backgrounds (classical, Bulgarian folk, Jazz, Bluegrass, Latin-american, etc.), but it also attempts to send a message of unity despite all our differences.

and more details: Cristian's debut album Anima Mundi has received numerous reviews throughout the world (Italy, Australia, Russia, Germany, Bolivia, South Korea, etc.), and reached #13 in the CMJ World Music charts in the USA. Former Artist in Residence at Strathmore Music Center, Cristian has been featured on Vintage Guitar Magazine. His music has taken him to China, Canada, Dominican Republic, Bulgaria, South Korea, Bolivia, and he continues to be in high demand with a busy performing schedule.
Cristian aims to blur the lines between music genres without sacrificing artistic integrity. Born and raised in Argentina, with advanced degrees in Classical Guitar and Jazz Studies, and a passion for folk music from throughout the world; Cristian's music inevitably blends all his influences in very unique way.
It is not easy to find musicians to collaborate with on such a musically ambitious project, but Cristian has succeeded in finding just the perfect ensemble.
Bulgarian-born multi-award winning flutist Yana Nikol brings to the table her classical background as well as her passion for folk music. Violinist and acclaimed composer Aaron Malone brings us his bluegrass fire as well as his classical chops. And last, but not least, bassist Daniel Brown contributes to the mix by adding his klezmer/jazz roots.
The end result is an instrumental ensemble of four improvising virtuosos that embrace multiple genres and cultures coming together to create beautiful music beyond labels.
