Water World! The Lives and Habits of the "Mini-Monsters"
Have fun discovering the wonders of the watery world of aquatic insects! Find out why ponds, streams, and vernal pools are important to understanding the health of our ecosystems in this daylong exploration with Frederique Lavoipierre, Director of Education at the Santa Barbara Botanical Gardens. After an introductory lecture, you'll embark on a trip to Pepperwood's ponds and streams. Returning to the lab, you'll look through the revealing lens of a microscope to observe the intriguing "mini monsters" that lurk in our waters. Bring lunch and water, and wear layered apparel and sturdy hiking shoes. Rubber boots are also helpful for this adventure.
