Happy New Year! Our first meeting of 2013 is on January 16. As in the past, our January meeting fulfills the 2-hour annual ethics requirements for CMA's.
Please join us for an engaging and interesting discussion of common 401(k) plan errors, including the decision making process as to whether and how to undertake correction and the ethical dilemmas posed once discovery is made. The rules affecting the design and operation of 401(k) plans are numerous, complex and change frequently. Almost all plans encounter problems at one time or another. If this happens on your watch, what should you do about it? What is at stake in the decisions you may face?
Bill Whitman is an attorney with Thorson Barnett & McDonald, specializing in qualified and nonqualified plan design, consulting, drafting and correction. He got his BA from UW, followed by a J.D. from Willamette University and then a Masters in Tax at Boston University.
Bill has extensive experience speaking to professionals so this should be a very informative and thought provoking way to get those two required hours of ethics for 2013.
