Iris Rose: Torch Songs Revisited
The show is presented as part of "Sundays @ Seven".
"Sundays @ Seven" is a Series presented by TWEED TheaterWorks, Kevin Malony Artistic Director.
Iris Rose offers a fresh look at the torch song with a wide variety of plaintive tunes by The Magnetic Fields, Joni Mitchell, They Might Be Giants, Patsy Cline, The Handsome Family and more.
In the 1980s, Iris Rose wrote, directed, and performed dozens of original works, with and without the performance group Watchface, at The Pyramid Club, P.S. 122 and La MaMa, among many other venues. She devoted most of the following decades to parenting and writing, but returned to directing and performing with the creation of Theater of the Grasshopper in 2008. Along with other members of Watchface, she spent many years assembling an extensive archival website documenting the groups history, watchface.nyc, launched in 2016 at the group's one-night reunion marking the 30th anniversary of Dixon Place.

Downtown's intimate supper-club Pangea is the ultimate in alt, playing home to some of the best in alt cabaret. The New York Times recently called it a bohemian oasis not unlike the fabled Max's Kansas City from days gone by."
