Massa at Cozy Concerts
Massa is sometimes rocking, sometimes acoustic, with influences deep in Middle-Eastern culture. From traditional minor scales to the heart-beating sounds of Arabic drums, Massa presents a fusion of sounds, beats, melodies and sharp lyrics to match. Massa provides a different perspective on life across oceans, far away from a beloved homeland.
Made up of members of the Israeli community and based in the Bay Area, Massa performs original Israeli Rock in Hebrew and English as well as cover versions of beloved Israeli classics. Massa is made up of Yoav Land on guitars, Shy Rachman on vocals, Adi Smulian on bass, and Amir Tsuri on drums, percussion & beats.
With a deep look into the life of West Coast vs. the West Bank, between relaxed San Francisco and the ever burning, controversial Middle-East, the bands songs bring to life a touch of home-sickness alongside a sober understanding of day-to-day blues. Combining East and West, the songs of Massa will take you on a journey from the cobblestone streets of Jerusalem to the open highways of California. Massa began its American journey when the band members, all active musicians in Israel before immigrating to the USA, were invited to perform and produce musical events in the Bay Area. Feeling the need for a new sound and original materials, the band began writing songs together, developing Massa's unique sound and perspective.
