Sometimes you must step out in faith and trust in the universe. Over the last 12 years I have had the honor of working with some of the best musicians in town. I am an entertainer who performs for her audience and I just want people to experience the joy of jazz. My singing has taken me all the way to Kobe, Japan, in addition to my local Seattle circuit of regular performances and various private events.
In the past year I have been very fortunate to share the stage with The 200 Trio: Cole Schuster on guitar, Max Holmberg on drums, and Greg Feingold on bass. These men have a special type of magic that only happens when they are together. I have always been impressed by The 200 Trios creative compositions and arrangements and wondered what would happen if we worked together? Would it sound good? Would we all like each other? And most importantly, would it be fun? So, guess what? YES, to all of the above!
And with that, I formally introduce my next venture called The Lady in the Gown, my very first tour slated for May 2018, accompanied by The 200 Trio!
The Lady in the Gown phrase was born from my live studio session on KPLU/KNKX in 2016 with Abe Beeson and this project is an example of what soulful jazz standards feel like when they are classically arranged. Performing with The 200 Trio has helped me awaken new ways of singing and my voice surprises and enlightens me every time we perform. Life has been interesting for all of us and spreading a little jazz and happiness in this country can only be a good thing.
