Mental Health First Aid--Military Members, Veterans and their Families.
Brought to you by Cardinal Innovations Healthcare in collaboration with CPCC Merancas Campus, CPCC Center for Military Families and Veterans, and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
This is an 8 hour course hosted by our friends at the Merancas Campus of CPCC in Huntersville on Friday Nov 17th from 8am to 5pm. Registration is free and open to the public (adults). Lunch is sponsored by our friends at the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention North Carolina Chapter.
Community members working with and around veterans, military and families are often not aware of how to engage veterans with mental illnesses and addictions. In addition to the impact of military service on the veteran, each has a circle of family (significant other, children, parents, siblings, etc.) and friends who are also impacted by their military service.
Mental Health First Aid USA is a live 8 hour in-person training program like regular First Aid or CPR designed to give people the skills to help someone who is developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. The course uses role-playing and simulations to demonstrate how to recognize and respond to the warning signs of specific illnesses.
