The Violence of My Affection
The Violence of My Affection is an original play by Gaetano Marangelli about an Italian actress whose love of language binds, then severs her marriage to an American scholar. When their son, a journalist, tells her of her husband's sudden death, she refuses to believe himuntil she reveals to him the cause of her husband's demise.

"Marangelli's principal character is not your typical victim of pain and suffering who doesn't know how to feel sympathy for the world that rejected her," wrote Chicago Stage Style of the premiere production of The Violence of My Affection at Chicago's A Red Orchid Theatre. "Her inner mental workings create a magical play that I would invite anyone to experience."

The Brigata will present staged readings of the play on Friday, January 11 at 7:00 PM and Saturday, January 12 at 4:30 PM. The company will present previews of scenes from The Violence of My Affection and new plays by Gaetano Marangelli and Marta Mondelli on Sunday, January 13 at 7:00 PM. Tickets will be $10 at the theater box office on the days of the performances.

The Violence of My Affection stars Marta Mondelli, Brendon DeMay, Jacques Roy, and Cristina Lippolis, and is being produced by Natalie Qing Zhang and Rachel Alulis.
