How to Make a Living as a Freelancer or Solo Entrepreneur: Really for Real
How to Make a Living as a Freelancer or Solo Entreprenuer: Really for Real is a straight talking but compassionate guide to building a career out of freelance work or solo entrepreneurship. We'll go from the decision to create such a career to the steps you can take to get your practice on it's feet to how to actually run and maintain a busy, stressful, but incredibly fulfilling career. This includes information on how to find gigs and clients (and make money!), budget responsibly for your business life, and market yourself without the fear and overwhelm that comes with marketing. Cassandra knows that there are a lot of obstacles in our way, and more so if you're LGBTQ+, POC, disabled, or otherwise marginalized. This is not a "get rich quick" class, but one that highlights a slow and steady track to a comfortable career that allots for trauma, illness, and societal oppression while still allowing you to pay your bills and love your work.

This workshop is designed and led by Cassandra Snow. They are a professional tarot card reader, writer, and theatre artist located in Minneapolis, MN. They run Gadfly Theatre Productions, are the arts journalist at TheColu.mn (an online LGBTQ+ website), and write the "Queering the Tarot" series featured at Little Red Tarot. Cassandra's writing has been featured on Howlround, at Story Club, Big Fat Comedy Hour, & Strike Theater (to name a few), and right here at Patrick's Cabaret. She teaches tarot at Eye of Horus Metaphysical (where she also reads a couple of times a week), The Future, and even had a tarot class at the Smitten Kitten earlier this year. Cassandra considers her life's work to be about creating transformative spaces that also happen to be safer spaces. Cassandra is a queer artist and activist, the friend who never forgets your birthday, and should probably cut back on their coffee consumption.

This workshop is the fourth of five that will be held throughout November and December, 2017. The series is a collaboration between Patrick's Cabaret, Soo Visual Arts Center, and Pangea World Theater. This program is intended to create collaborative space for artists to share their skills with fellow artists and organizers, to strengthen relationships and build resilience, and to provide opportunities for artists to put their knowledges to work.

Please register in advance, as space is limited. We ask a $5-10 sliding scale, but have subsidies available if you need. Snacks and other refreshments will be available.
