The Intima: Narrative Medicine
The Intima continues its partnership with Bowery Arts+Science to present the 6th installment in its Life Writings series with live readings of original works published in the Fall 2017 issue of their online journal of Narrative Medicine. This event, Speak, focuses on experiences that originate in our bodies, coalesce in our thoughts and urge us to acknowledge them aloud, asking listeners to find connections between themselves and the stories they hear. Highlighting narratives of illness, health, caregiving, the body, and the interpersonal relationships that join them together, the works shared will range in genre from fiction and poetry to non-fiction and memoir. This format encourages the authors to read their work aloud, share a brief explanation of the inspiration for the piece and also to participate in an interactive Q&A with the audience.
