50th Anniversary of the Seattle Black Panther Party at the Ruins
On November 18, 2017, the Seattle Chapter of the Black Panther Party will host a special fundraising event featuring former Black Panther Party Central Committee Communications Secretary Kathleen Cleaver. 11/18/17, 7pm-11pm The Ruins, 570 Roy St, Seattle Refreshment & No-host bar
Proceeds raised will help offset expenses to present an unforgettable 50th Anniversary Celebration of Seattles Black Panther Chapter, to take place April 26-28, 2018. Founded in 1968 by a collection of Seattle activists including brothers Aaron and Elmer Dixon, the Seattle Chapter of the Black Panther Party was the first chapter established outside of Oakland, CA. The legacy of this organization is linked to Seattles earliest medical clinic, education and food programs for everyone. The 50th Anniversary of its founding is a milestone to be celebrated by the entire city, in honor of the chapters accomplishments and legacy.
We will also be joined by artist/activist and 2017 Seattle Mayoral candidate Nikkita Oliver, along with performances by AfroCop and Septimus. This is a private, invitation only event. Please join us.
The work of the Seattle Chapter of the Black Panther Party was always and continues to be FOR THE PEOPLE. Yesterday, today and tomorrow we walk forward with renewed purpose.
