ABOUT THE PERFORMERS November 14, 2017
Colleen Eccleston was born in Alberta, raised all over Canada, and now lives in her 45th house on Vancouver Island. Colleen has had a delightfully checkered career as an actress, rock singer, jingle singer, member of The Ecclestons, kids performer, History of Rock and Roll/Songwriting professor, and mentor but always, most importantly, a songwriter. Having honed that craft since she was eleven years old and living in Newfoundland, she writes and sings about the human condition, with a deep reverence for the magic of language and a gorgeous voice that is equally capable of grit and grace. Her music is her catharsis. Colleen on Facebook
Keenan Lawlor Fuelled by obsessive curiosity, Keenan Lawlor writes songs to help make sense of the world around him. Honest and clear, his songs find beauty in the broken and hope for the lost. Some of his influences include: Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Nick Drake, Aaron Embry and Patrick Watson. As a singer and songwriter with The River and The Road, Keenan gained a wealth of experience opening up for such acts as Sam Roberts, Shakey Graves and The Arkells. He is now excited to share his experiences with a newly-matured batch of songs. Keenan on Facebook
Chris Ronalds keenly luxuriant voice and immaculate songcraft (The Georgia Straight) have won him many accolades including a nomination for Songwriter of the Year at the Canadian Folk Music Awards and a place in the finals of the Kerrville New Folk song competition. Ronald emigrated from England to Canada in 2002, and his music has been described as Canadian folk with British roots. 2017 saw Chris fourth album, Fragments, released on esteemed Canadian folk label Borealis Records. www.chrisronald.com
Shari Ulrich - Originally a California girl, Shari's 40-year career from Pied Pumkin through The Hometown Band and on as a solo artist and multi-instrumentalist has led to 23 albums including collaborations with Bill Henderson and Roy Forbes (UHF), Barney Bentall & Tom Taylor (BTU), and the bluegrass band The High Bar Gang. Her work has garnered two Juno Awards, an induction into the BC Entertainment Hall of Fame, and a 2014 Canadian Folk Music Award for English Songwriter of the Year. She has been producing SongBird North for the SAC for over 20 years, both locally and nationally. www.shariulrich.com
