NJW Presents Snap on 2&4 with Cord Martin
On Saturday, October 28 at 8PM, the Nashville Jazz Workshop welcomes saxophonist Cord Martin to the Jazz Cave for a special Snap on 2&4 performance.
Cord Martin has appeared on the Jazz Cave stage many times, most recently when he brought saxophone great Don Braden to town last year, performing alongside him with a stellar local rhythm section. The combination of a visiting jazz great and a group of Nashville's finest brought down the house last year. This time Cord takes the stage as a leader, and is sure to bring some great music!
For this performance, Cord will be joined by John Birdsong (bass), Bryan Harrison (piano), and Wendell Henry (drums).
Cord is also a dedicated and accomplished educator. He serves as Band Director for Whitthorne Middle School in Columbia. He shares his passion for jazz and inspires an interest in jazz in his young students, and was named Middle School Teacher of the Year in Columbia. His concerts last year with Don Braden and Valery Ponomarev are part of a residency which puts these visiting masters in contact with young jazz band students in the midstate.
There will be two sets beginning at 8:00 pm in the Jazz Cave at the Workshop. Tickets will go on sale Monday, October 16 at 10am, and are $30 ($15 for high school and college students). Advance purchase is strongly recommended. Tickets will be available online from brownpapertickets.com and by phone at 800-838-3006 24/7 or 615-242-5299 during business hours.
