Sidro has been one of Northern California's favorite Croatian Tamburitza Orchestras for over 20 years, They specialize in Dalmatian songs, though they have a versatile repertoire that includes songs and dances from other regions of Croatia. Notably, they have accompanied San Jose's Koraci Croatian Folklore dance group on tours of Canada and California. They are firm believers that practically any song can sound good on the Tamburitza. So, they have been known to do versions of popular rock, pop, and even dance songs.
Ensemble Merkalii & Rumen-Sali Shopov can pick you up and spin you around with their energetic wedding-style music and arranged traditional Balkan and Romani dance tunes. The band makes music "with merak" - for the love of the experience, with passion and heart - and so they are "Meraklii." Rumen Sali Shopov is an internationally acclaimed musician, arranger and band leader who has inspired many local musicians and groups.
Antika Bulgaria Folk Dance Ensemble and Cultural Club was established in the San Francisco Bay Area to rekindle and revive the spirit of traditional music, songs, and dance in the hearts of Bulgarians and Friends. The group sprouted under the loving care and guidance of Tanya Kostova, the leader, engine, and Artistic Director of Antika Bulgaria! Antika Bulgarias childrens school Martenichki organized by several members of Antika Bulgaria has been instrumental in bringing up the young Bulgarians as Bulgarians.
