A Song for All Seasons
Cheah Chan Duo proudly kicks off its 9th season with "A Song for All Seasons", an evening of songs celebrating the four seasons and the splendor of nature's landscapes. The recital will be held on Wednesday, November 15, at 7:00pm at the Marc A. Scorca Hall of the National Opera Center in Manhattan.
The centerpiece works of the program include Stephen Lias' "Songs of a Sourdough", a "vibrant and emotional song cycle" which explores life in the Yukon with texts by Robert Service, and John Luther Adams' "Poem of the Forgotten", a haunting setting of a poem by John Haines. The program also features music by Amy Beach and Leonard Bernstein in celebration of Beach's sesquicentennial this year and Bernstein's centennial next year, as well as pieces by Abbie Betinis, George Gershwin, Betty Jackson King, Raymond Lustig, and Peter Warlock.
