In the all-too-possible future, cheap entertainment and public displays of hate keep the proles ignorant but content despite a never-ending war, all under the government's watchful eye. Winston Smith rewrites history for the Ministry of Truth, but when he's handed a note from a woman he hardly knows that simply says "I love you," he decides to risk everything in search for the real truth. Can he possibly hold onto what he feels inside? Or will he renounce everything, accept the Party's reality, and learn to love Big Brother?
Join NoExit Performance, with support from the Efroymson Family Fund and iMOCA, as we take on a classic novel with an immersive, site-responsive performance experience. The theater has always been a welcome home for political activism, and continues to be in a time when alternative facts, corporate propagandists, and sensational media threaten the ideals we strive for as a community. Stand with NoExit Performance, along with Emmanuel Goldstein and the underground Brotherhood, to ensure Indianapolis remembers the possible dystopia Orwell warned us about in his masterpiece. Remember: we're in this together.
