A Diwali Celebration at The Spot on Kirk presented by The G Market
Join us for the first event in our International Music Series as we celebrate Indian culture through music and dance!
"Diwali" is the "festival of Lights" and is celebrated every year in autumn in the northern hemisphere by several countries and multiple religions. The holiday calls for thousands of lights, candles, and lanterns to be put on display to spiritually signify the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, knowledge over ignorance, and hope over despair.
Bollywood singer and keyboardist Mr. Praful Shah will perform Bhajan Sangeet (Devotional Songs) and Dr. Anuradha Sekhri will be performing Indian classical, folk, and Bollywood music. There will also be an art & travel discussion with Blacksburg artist Jane Vance.
Samples of Indian cuisine will be available for purchase.
The International Music Series is funded by the Richard & Caroline T. Gwathmey Memorial Trust.
