Wild Man
A new season of Storytelling Sunday is here!
After our summer hiatus, storyteller Martin Maudsley returns to Bristol with Welsh singer and cellist Ailsa Mair Hughes to bring a double-bill of stirring stories rooted in North European mythology and percolated through the rich imagery of oral storytelling.
From the deep, dark woods of Grimms tales to the cold, airy mountains of Norse legend: two tales of two men on two twisting journeys through the wild places of the world to face their fates and find the wildness within
A carefully crafted performance of words and images forged in the flames of music and song, creatively exploring desire, destiny and our deep-rooted relationship with the natural world.
The themes of flight, freedom and a sense of the wild resonate strongly in this fine retelling where confinement, and perhaps even civilisation, mean death. Bristol Evening Post.
Martin Maudsley is a master craftsman, telling old tales with new resonance. His collaboration with cellist Ailsa Mair Hughes works beautifully, her music adding emotion and sensitivity to the performance. Aberystwyth Storytelling Festival.
