Seattle Peace Chorus 2017/18 Season Pass
This year continues our series of Diaspora concerts to honor groups of people who have kept their very rich traditions alive throughout persecution, enslavement and hardships. We examine Freedom of the Press through music in the Fall, and honor Native American legacies in Spring.
Freedom of the Press/Freedom of Song
Music celebrating the First Amendment. - A timeline of choral works from the time of Gutenberg to the present, from early music by Josquin des Prez to "My Spirit is Uncaged" featuring the poetry of Walt Whitman, newly composed spoken word compositions by Frederick N. West, and universal songs of resistance to oppression. - Accompanied by Grammy nominee Jovino Santos Neto and his Jazz Quintet.
