Rhythm Future Quartet: Gypsy Jazz!
Occidental Center for the Arts is pleased to welcome back the acoustic jazz ensemble Rhythm Future Quartet, on tour from New York and Boston. Named after a Django Reinhart tune, this virtuosic foursome performs dynamic and fiery arrangements of Gypsy jazz standards and original compositions with a newly minted sound. Led by award-winning composer and jazz violinist Jason Anick and Finnish jazz guitar star Olli Soikkeli, the quartet also includes young Djangofest award winner Max ORourke on second guitar, and top call bassist Greg Loughman. Dedicated to expanding the boundaries of Gypsy jazz in todays musical universe, the quartet has a recent award-winning CD Travels (Best Jazz Album of 2016), which reflects their experiences touring around the world , drawing on diverse international rhythms and musical idioms. http://rhythmfuturequartet.com.
