Drea CD Release Party with Mark Growden
A Gritty Kind of Beautiful....
Check it out! Drea Muldavin Roemer ('drea') has come out with her debut album, surrender, and it's hot off the press and ready for a listen! Recorded at Piety Street Studios in New Orleans' Bywater, the album features ten of drea's guitar-and-vocal original songs, accompanied by Mark Growden's elegant ensemble arrangements. With Jack Craft on cello, Sam Craft on violin, Peter Harris on standup bass, and Larry Sieberth on piano (all native New Orleans musicians), the album is a unique tapestry of eloquently expressed emotion. Growden's artfully layered arrangements dance with the richness of drea's voice in powerful and sometimes unexpected ways, and something new can be heard with every listen, whether a resonant cello note held quietly in the background, or a subtlety of meaning beneath an already nuanced line.
With authentic and unabashed vocals, evocative lyrics, and a haunting, soulful sound, surrender is a stirring collection of songs, and well worth the listen.
