Michael Bar-Zohar
David Ben-Gurion once said, "The Jewish people doesn't know what it owes to Shimon Peres." Indeed, the young Peres, operating in secrecy, was the builder of Israel's military might. In Israel's Independence War, he acquired weapons from all over the world. But in this expanded biography, Phoenix, Bar-Zohar not only illuminates Peres as Mr. Security, but also Peres' transformation into Mr. Peace. Michael Bar-Zohar is the award-winning author of more than thirty fiction and nonfiction books. Bar-Zohar, himself, has been very active in Israel's political life and has served two terms in the Knesset. He knew Shimon Peres for more than fifty years.
