Harford Choral Society May Concert
The Harford Choral Society will perform Haydn's Mass in Time of War and other selections with professional soloists and orchestra.
This season finale features one of Haydn's most popular settings of the Mass. Long thought to express an anti-war sentiment, Haydn wrote this work in 1796, at the time of Austria's mobilization into war. Dr William Spencer conducts the chorus, orchestra and vocal soloists in this moving work. Also on the program are mass movements by five composers including Liszt, Bach and Monteverdi.
