The Psychic by Samuel Bobrick
The Psychic revolves around struggling mystery writer Adam Webster who needs money to cover his billsfast. Adopting P.T. Barnums adage about the nature of us humans, he decides to advertise Psychic Readings for $25 each. An accurate early prediction for his first customer, Laura, quickly leads to more and more attention from the fortune-seeking public around his neighborhood in New York City. A string of inquisitive characters soon darken his door, as Memories website informs us. These include Lauras husband, Roy, and his mistress, Rita, a local mobster named Johnny Bubbles and Norris Coslow, a curious NYPD homicide detective. The plot thickens and twists around a real-life murder mystery that engulfs Adams life; paying the bills soon becomes the least of his concerns.
