Always a favorite at Christmas and always a staple of the Octavos' choral seasons, Handel's Messiah is inarguably his finest work. Composed in less than four weeks and containing upwards of a quarter of a million notes, the work is not only a masterpiece, but also a miracle. For this concert, the chorus expands its numbers a bit, as does the orchestra, and a powerful, wildly-talented quartet rounds out the beauty of this stunning Baroque oratorio. Performed at the acoustically-perfect Memorial Chapel on the Union College campus, the Octavos will be presenting this on a Saturday night this year as opposed to our traditional Sunday afternoon. Grab a good meal beforehand and come prepared to sing the 'Hallelujah Chorus' with us.
