Memphis & Gospel Blues - Andy Cohen & Robin O'Herin
With special guest, local fiddle genius Alan Kaufman!
Andrew Cohen is a guitar picker of great depth, and a teacher of music in a dizzying range of blues idioms. Early on, Andy made it his business to get up with as many older blues and gospel players as possible (the list is long), in part by getting work for them at festivals and other venues. Beyond the tricky technique stuff and learning the songs themselves, his intent is to open a door to the actual lives these seminal blues carriers lived. Andy tours constantly across the US and Canada and hosts the trad. room at the International Folk Alliance. His reputation as a folk historian, master of Peidmont blues and ragtime, and student of Rev. Gary Davis precedes him. A knowledgeable and outstanding performer, his show is one you dont want to miss - right down to the dulceola!
