Thinking of launching a freelance writing business? Dont miss this panel presentation. Sue Bowness, freelance writing instructor and PWAC Toronto Chapter blog editor, will share an overview of how freelance writers earn a living, including different types of content you can write and their pay rates. Get tips from an accounting expert Sunny Widerman about money management for freelancers. Karen Luttrell, marketing strategist and PWAC Toronto Chapter president, will walk you through the basics of developing a marketing plan for your freelance writing business.

SPEAKERS

Sue Bowness is a writer/editor with over 17 years of experience, writing everything from feature articles to web content for a variety of sectors, from education and careers to business and technology. Sue has been a PWAC member since 2002, and she has held various roles including president of the Ottawa Chapter and vice-president in charge of membership of the Toronto Chapter. She is now a Toronto Chapter board member at large and editor of the chapter's blog Networds. She teaches in the Professional Writing and Communications certificate program at Humber College.

Sunny Widerman has been a tax preparer and advisor since 2002, with a growing clientele of freelancers, business owners and professionals. Through her firm Personal Tax Advisors, Sunny specializes in helping clients take control of their tax planning by explaining the tax issues that affect them. She focuses on a gentle, non-threatening approach to financial issues and clear, jargon free language.

Karen Luttrell is a freelance writer, nonprofit marketing strategist, part-time communications instructor, and proud word nerd. She led marketing and communications for local, national, and international nonprofits and charities before she launched her own freelance business in 2010. She is President of the Professional Writers Association of Canada Toronto Chapter. You can find her online at www.luttrellcommunications.com
