Game Night: A Variety Show
All inspired by the fun and community of playing games, Game Night is a variety show featuring music and comedy, AND a reason to put on pants and leave your home! The evening is created and hosted by Angela M Webber (The Doubleclicks, Catty Bs, Bridgetown) and Joseph Scrimshaw (Obsessed Podcast, Screen Junkies, RiffTrax) at Geeky Teas in Burbank! October's special guests are comedian Riley Silverman (MTV, Comedy Central), writer/performer/gamer Amy Vorpahl (Geek & Sundry, The Mindy Project), screenwriter Josh A Cagan (screenwriter of The Duff), and power-geek producer Audrey Kearns (editor of Geek Girl Authority)!
October 21. Doors at 6:30pm, show at 7! 18+. RSVP, remind yourself, and invite your friends on Facebook! The venue does not serve drinks but BYOB is welcome.
About the guests:
Audrey Kearns is a writer, actor and producer. She founded the influential pop culture website, Geek Girl Authority for which she is editor-in-chief. She hosts and produces the podcasts Booze and Phasers, Kneel Before Aud and 5 Truths and a Lie. She also wrote, produced and acted in the successful one-person comedy Obsessively Okay which somehow managed to combine her battles with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder with her love for Star Trek cosplay. If that's not nerdy enough for you, then just ask her to show you the two separate inhalers she carries with her at all times.
Like most people in LA, Josh A. Cagan is a writer with a podcast. He wrote the reasonably successful THE DUFF, and the unabashedly unsuccessful BANDSLAM. The geek community has been saddled with him since 2009, and in that time he's worked with nerds like Paul & Storm, Wil Wheaton, The Doubleclicks, and Molly Lewis. Currently he and Molly are watching all the Charlie Brown specials in order for their podcast THE PEANUTS GALLERY. He lives in Hollywood with his wife, YA author Kayla Cagan, and their very handsome dog, Banjo.
Amy Vorpahl is a writer and actress from the grand ol' state of Texas with a BFA in Acting from University of Oklahoma. She has worked in the digital space for several years as a writer, producer, host and gamer for several years at places like Nerdist, Geek and Sundry, Buzzfeed, The Attack, and Comic Con HQ. Amy has spent over ten years performing improv and sketch at the comedy schools in LA including Groundlings Sunday Company, UCB, and iO West, and she uses all that sweet, sweet experience to make her RPG characters super effing fun! She has been playing D&D since college, and, though she loves 5e, there will always be a place in heart for 3.5e, the system that began her journey into RPG Town.
Highlighted by VICE for her wry observational comedy, radical openness, and casually inviting demeanor, Riley Silverman has been seen on Seesos Take My Wife, Comedy Centrals Not Safe with Nikki Glaser, and headlining 2017s Portland Queer Comedy Festival. Her debut comedy album, Intimate Apparel, was a #1 best seller on Amazon. Riley is the head writer for the International Waters comedy panel show podcast, was a body diversity model for the fashion brand ModCloth, and was listed as one of 100 Queer Women We Love by GO Magazine, and 10 Women Comedians Who Smash the Patriarchy by The Culture Trip.
