Class description: You will learn listening skills, helper principles, client rights, cultural considerations, how to ask open ended questions, stages of recovery, problem solving, confidentiality, boundaries, and dissatisfaction as an avenue for change.
Peer Support Specialist (PSS) training is a 40 hour session that is required to become a Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS). It is based on the recovery philosophy and teaches peers (consumers of mental health and/or substance use services) how to support other peers either as volunteer or paid employee. Peers must become certified to qualify for employment as a PSS. *Completion of this class is not a job offer or placement referral from Cardinal Innovations Healthcare.
