ASSASSINS In Concert
On Saturday, October 21st, 2017 at 7:30 pm, Beyond Boundaries presents ASSASSINS In Concert at Eastminster United Church (310 Danforth Avenue) to benefit the Out of the Cold Program (OOTC).
Bold, original, disturbing and alarmingly funny, Tony Award-winning Assassins is perhaps one of the most controversial musicals ever written. With music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by John Weidman, Assassins lays bare the lives of nine individuals who assassinated or tried to assassinate the President of the United States. This one-act historical play explores the dark side of the American experience from John Wilkes Booth to Lee Harvey Oswald. Bending the rules of time and space, assassins and would-be assassins from different historical periods meet, interact and inspire each other to harrowing acts in the name of the American Dream. In light of current political happenings in the United States, this musical combines Sondheim's signature blend of intelligently stunning lyrics and beautiful music with a panoramic story of one nation's culture of celebrity and the aggressive means some will use to obtain it.
ASSASSINS In Concert features professional musical theatre talents: Katie Beetham (Bystander); AJ Bridel (Squeaky Fromme); Jeremy Carver-James (Charles Guiteau); Alessandro Costantini (Giuseppe Zangara); Jonathan Ellul (Sam Byck); Ryan Kelly (John Wilkes Booth); Lizzie Kurtz (Sara Jane Moore); David Lopez (Proprietor); Marisa McIntyre (Emma Goldman); David Michael Moote (John Hinckley); Kevin Morris (David Herold); Geoffrey Tyler (Balladeer/Lee Harvey Oswald); Christopher Wilson (Leon Czolgosz); and is accompanied by Giustin MacLean (piano).
