Local Mushroom Walk: Edibles versus Deadables
Have you wondered at the potentially delectable (or possibly deadly!) mushrooms popping up just about everywhere in the East Bay? They're along the sidewalks, the trails, and maybe even in your own backyard!
It happens every year: with the rains come the 'shrooms.
Local foragers and associated groups look forward to the rainy season and the wonders of the fungi kingdom that it brings.
So, want to learn more the mushrooms you've been seeing? Join Slow Food East Bay this Sunday, December 23rd for a free Wild Mushroom Identification and Foraging event with local expert (and Radical Mycology supporter) Joe Soeller. We'll gather from 11am to 1pm at the Sather Tower (the Campanile) on the UC Berkeley Campus for two hours of discovery including a how to on ID'ing mushrooms in the East Bay, discussions on foraging practices, then a walk through the area to see what we can find. This will take place rain or shine, so please dress accordingly.
SPACE IS LIMITED, SO RSVP TODAY TO RESERVE YOUR SPOT. A $5-$10 donation is appreciated on the day of, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds
