A FEMININE ENDING by Sarah Treem
Amanda Blue is a female composer struggling to make music - and an extraordinary life - amid the demands of her society, her family, and her lovers, seeking to have an outsized impact on a world whose rules are often predetermined. In this gentle, aching comedy about a young artist who knows what she wants but not quite how to get it, the SRS Production Wing opens a conversation about how we create meaning, both for ourselves and for others. By probing at the definitions and limitations of gender in today's cultural climate, "a feminine ending" feels even more important now than when it debuted ten years ago. Amanda's journey mirrors the re-emergence of our national discourse on gender norms, which has only recently begun to find its voice in the post-2016 world. Join us for an evening of laughter, reflection, and hope as Sarah Treem's insightful and incisive text is brought to life on the SRS Production Wing stage.
