windows & doors
windows & doors is a dance theatre work that tells the stories of four women - both real and imagined. As they make their passage through time and memory, they leave us with traces and artifacts of the lives they once lived. Inspired by the obituaries of four Denver women and a host of literary images, windows & doors unearths those parts of ourselves that "refuse to stay under the ground". Performed by Julie Anderson, Tobi Johnson Compton, Bailey Jensen, and Mary Lynn Lewark.
"Now we're at the door. The persistence of material objects is becoming an amazement to me. It's the same door - the one I used to go in through, out through, year after year... not thinking at all that I would one day be standing in front of this very same door with my grey-haired little sister. But all doors used regularly are doors to the afterlife." - Margaret Atwood
