Lines in the Dust, by Nikkole Salter - Regional Premiere
Tennessee Womens Theater Project opens its eleventh season in North Nashvilles Looby Theater with the regional premiere of a play that addresses a timely dilemma. Opening October 6 for three weekends, Nikkole Salters Lines in the Dust probes the sensitive topics of integration, racial privilege and school zoning manipulation.
The plot: When her daughter loses out in the magnet school lottery, Denitra Morgan is determined to find another way to escape their underperforming neighborhood school. Six decades after Brown v. Board of Education, Lines in the Dust questions how far we've come in matters of race and class, and more importantly, asks where we must go from here.
"Lines in the Dust" stars Colette Divine, Alan Lee and Tamiko Robinson Steele.
