Un petit boulot
Ontario Premiere
Jacques lives in a small town whose inhabitants have been reduced to poverty after stock market related job losses. The factory has shut down and his debts are piling up. When the local gangster bookmaker proposes that Jacques kill his wife, Jacques willingly accepts.
Crime doesnt always pay, though at least it pays more than the minimum wage. Thats one of the lessons to be culled from Odd Job (Un Petit Boulot), a darkly comic French caper about a two-time loser who finds gainful employment as a hitman. ()
Not unlike Walter White, Jacques only seems to get his groove back when he turns to crime, and the delight Duris takes in such a role manifests itself in the wicked flicker that occasionally pops up in his characters eyes. Kervern and Blanc are both perfectly cast as a loser and a winner, respectively, while Belgian actor Charlie Dupont is also memorable as a lowly crook with very little luck.
