VOLT Talks: The successes and failures of Scratch Nights with Danny Prosser
How do audiences and artists talk to each other? Can it be better?
A conversation about conversation, as performance maker and producer Danny Prosser speaks about Scratch Nights - including contributions from artists and producers he has gathered prior to the talk.
Through his experience of both performing work-in-progresses and being the producer of VOLT Circus Scratch Night, this talk will explore some of the successes and failures, gems and frustrations of that rare space where artists and audiences come together to talk about the future of a new show.
Danny is one third of theatre company Massive Owl, who make and tour work across the UK and internationally, most notably the Barbican Centre (London), OUTNOW Festival (Bremen), Project Arts Centre, (Dublin) and Mayfest (Bristol). He is also a freelance producer for Ausform, a circus and theatre producing company, and produces their bi-annual circus scratch night, VOLT. Most recently he became co-producer and programmer of Thorny, a live music and performance club night that looks to create spaces for the underrepresented voices of Bristol and beyond.
