Kung Pao Kosher Comedy Presents...
Comedy Returns to El Rio!

Now in its 4th year, this popular and diverse monthly (every 2nd Monday of the month) comedy show features the best of Bay Area comedians and beyond. The show takes place at El Rio in The Mission District where San Francisco comedian and comedy producer, Lisa Geduldig (Kung Pao Kosher Comedy, Funny Girlz), began her stand up comedy career 23 years ago.

The January 14th show features Dhaya Lakshminarayanan, Steven Alan Green, Nick Leonard, Bobby Golden, & Lisa Geduldig.

Dhaya Lakshminarayanan is a stand up comic, storyteller, and TV host of the Emmy-award winning "High School Quiz Show" on PBS's WGBH in Boston. She has performed her comedic storytelling nationally on NPR and PBS's "Snap Judgment." In past incarnations, Dhaya was a venture capitalist, traveled to Cuba as a researcher, was Ms. August '06 Saffron Rare Threads, taught "Charm School" at MIT where she graduated (twice), and attended two Democratic National Conventions as a journalist. Dhaya was the 2009 headliner of Women of Color in Comedy in Boston, has MC'ed for private events, galas, shows, and auctions including the America India Foundation Gala and the Nirvana Woman's Fashion Show. She plays a doctor on an Amgen TV commercial and has done commercial work for Adobe, Match.com, and AARP as well. Dhaya has performed at Comedy Day in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park, was part of Sketchfest at the California Academy of Sciences, and was a finalist at the Rooster T. Feathers Comedy Competition. She finds the absurdity in life, including her traditional Indian upbringing in the Deep South, nerd culture, and science and technology. www.dhayacomedy.com

Steven Alan Green is a New York born, Beverly Hills raised stand up comedian, actor, and writer who started at The Comedy Store in the 80's heyday as one of the house MCs and gag writers, writing for the likes of Jay Leno, Arsenio Hall and Jimme "JJ" Walker. Moving to London 20 years ago, Steven became a headlining favorite in all of the major London and beyond comedy clubs, was a regular on BBC Radio Scotland, and appeared thrice on British telly. His four one-man shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival all gained critical acclaim, including "The consummate American entertainer" (The List). In 2000, Steven created and produced "High On Laughter (HOL)," a comedy show series for a drug and alcohol charity launched by Princess Diana. HOL I & II starred, amongst others, Cheers' George Wendt, Neil Mullarkey (Mike Myers' former comedy partner), Emo Philips, Rick Overton, and Zach Galifiankis. HOL III took place at the London Palladium, starring 15 great American and British stand ups, plus a one Jerry Lewis, and was broadcast on Bravo UK. Jerry "collapsed" backstage, making international news and leading to Steven's first and highly acclaimed one-man show. Steven hosted "The South Park Weekend" on Comedy Central UK and was "American Comedy Correspondent" for The Fred MacAuley Show on BBC 2 Radio Scotland. www.thelaughterfoundation.org

Nick Leonard started performing stand up at the beloved Josie's Cabaret in The Castro and has appeared all over the U.S. His comedy graced the prestigious 2004 Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland. That same year, he was also voted one of San Francisco's top 10 comics by Karma.com. The former Cosmonaut and International Bon Vivant has been the producer of the long-running gay comedy showcase, QComedy, which is currently on hiatus. www.QComedy.com

Bobby Golden was born the youngest out of three Persians in Westlake Village, CA. He began performing stand up comedy at the age of 17 and has been unstoppable ever since. He has performed at all the major clubs in Los Angeles including The Comedy Store, Hollywood Improv, and Laugh Factory and has been featured in Palm Springs' Pulp Magazine and Santa Monica Magazine. Bobby was a semi-finalist in KTLA5's "Find Me a Comic" Contest and was voted Funniest Gay Comedian of May 2009 by the Celebration Theatre in West Hollywood.

Lisa Geduldig is a local comic and comedy producer who's the creator, producer, and MC of a variety of comedy shows including Kung Pao Kosher Comedy (celebrating its 20th anniversary December 2012); Funny Girlz: A Smorgasbord of Women Comedians; The Color of Funny: A Multi-Cultural Comedy Show; A Muslim, A Mormon, and A Jew Walk into A Bar: The Comedy of Religion; and Comedy Returns to El Rio.
